An English anthropologist (Christopher Lee) has discovered a frozen monster in the frozen wastes of Manchuria which he believes may be the Missing Link. He brings the creature back to Europe aboard a trans-Siberian express, but during the trip the monster thaws out and starts to butcher the passengers one by one.

I started watching for Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing, but then Telly Savalas swaggered on scene and I was like "good lord, he's like Ron Perlman, stealing the show".
Also, the little quips throughout made me laugh out loud in a few spots. My fave? "what if one of you are the monster?" ":gasp: But we're British!"

Lee, Cushing, Savallas et al are in fine form in this unusual offering set on a train. The Trans-Siberian Express, no less. A period piece, the opulence of the Old World is clashing with the changing political order. Set against the backdrop of the impending Russian Revolution, the emergence of modern science and an artifact more interesting than an old mummy, these passengers and the train crew are trapped on a train with a horror they do not understand until the end.
Compared to the more modern "Zombies on a Train/Snakes on a Train" offerings, this film is more complex with better plot elements. In ways, it draws from Stoker's Dracula novel's sea voyage chapters, as has a genre of monster movies since the beginning of film. "Alien" can be seen as a direct descendant via a long string of other movies "Planet of Vampires, etc.).
Good spooky movie, especially for those who have never seen it.

Thanks for uploading a real horror classic!
As I'm familiar with the original short story "Who Goes There", I wasn't really blown away. But I like the movie's atmosphere and the believable performances. Anyway, if you're wondering what a crossover between The Thing [1982] and Murder on the Orient Express [1974] looks like, give it a go ...

Considering Peter Cushing was going to back out of this movie, it shows the great teaming up once again with his old sparring partner Christopher Lee ( who's name is mis spelt on the titles of the movie).
You can see how much fun the two had in one of their better " non hammer" collaborations. With out over acting or pushing their fun banter too far.
Great set's, acting and costumes and a great premise. The creature can move from person to person no one is safe, is anyone who they claim to be, and no escape from a moving train.
Highly recommended for Cushing and Lee fans, who want to see, them as other than just Van Helsing and Dracula,

I give it a B+. High production value. Beautiful costumes and sets. Solid acting, direction, story line and acting. Pretty good special effects for it's time; simple and to the point. Good creepy, clastrophobic atmosphere. A somewhat advanced story for it's time. Exibits some of that original Alien and Predator creepiness. The box car scenes reminds me A LOT of the subway train scene in Predator II where the Predator goes on his big rampage. An enjoyable download. experience.

The monk, a Richard Lewis look alike was Russian. Every time he was referred to, the word 'Mad' was used.
The little Assistant looked exactly like Madam Blavatsky.
SPOILER ALERT: When the monster, who stole everyone's mind looked at the priest and said "You don't have any thing in there"

This film scared me to death the first time I saw it when I was about 11 or 12 and it's still creely, suspenseful fun.
Let's face it. When you have a horror film featuring Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee cooped up in a train going across eastern Europe, you know it's going to be good, but throw in Telly Savalas strutting around being, well, Telly Savalas (I halfway expected him to whip out a Tootsie Pop and go 'Who loves ya, baby?), and you know it's got to be great.
The story is inventive, the pacing is quick, but not to the point of feeling rushed, and visually it appears much more lavish than the low budget flick it really was.
